Our determination has paid off! We have been given the go-ahead to start the planning and construction of a 18-hole disc golf course on 40 acres of property owned by the Viroqua VFW Post #3032 on the south end of Viroqua. There are existing walking trails through a mix of woods and open areas. It’s a great location with easy access from town.
Our club had a meeting and the first walk-through of our new course. We fought our way through the jungle of vines and woods and Chris pointed out the first couple areas Brandon marked to clear. We’ll be getting going on this clearing right away.
While we’re still working out the details of installing our first course, we’re not going to let this summer pass without some disc golf happening in Viroqua. With temporary baskets and an interesting location, we’ve got a fun 18-hole course to play weekly. The school grounds offer some fantastic elevation changes and an opportunity for some great shots. A huge thanks to Brandon and Chris for the idea and organization behind Bad Axe Disc Golf’s first league.
So come on out and play. League nights start at 6 pm in the parking lot behind the VHS football field. It’s free to play. Singles/Doubles will be determined by the number of players each week. From time to time we’ll add some more fun to the mix. And mark your calendars for Family Night on Thursday, August 29th when we’ll be chowing down picnic-style after we play. More details to come.
