Hole 10 tee

We are extremely excited to announce that Veteran Hills Disc Golf Course has all of its 18 baskets installed. When we began designing and building the course in the fall of 2013, this was one of the milestones we most looked forward to. To date our volunteers have donated nearly 900 hours of their time to this project. They have transformed a beautiful piece of property into a gem of a disc golf course.

In addition to the new baskets, alternate tee areas were established on most of the longer holes. These alternates add variety and shorten up the holes, which we hope will appeal to those new to the sport or anyone just looking to play a faster round. Look for more alternate tees and basket locations in the coming months.

The next phase of this project will be to install concrete tee pads. These type of pads are standard on the majority of disc golf courses and provide a level, consistent surface for players to throw from. When the tee pads are installed we will be able to finalize our tee signs and recognize our hole sponsors.

That said, we would again like to thank the Bank of Ontario, Organic Valley, Kickapoo Coffee, the Viroqua Tourism Committee, Jean Rozeske, Vernon Communications Cooperative, Viroqua Area Foundation, Nelson Agri-Center, Thomas Wyse & Andrea Haugo, Viroqua Food Co-op, Fred Nelson, Viroqua Area Rotary Club , and Schlicht Insurance for their generous monetary donations. We’d like to thank Mike Charron of Driftless Trails, Inc for his immense help on these last three holes. Additionally, we would like to thank the Viroqua VFW POST 3032 for donating the use of their property and being an amazing partner in this project…this could not have been done without you.

We are nearing our fundraising goal, but still need your help. We have hole sponsorships that can be purchased and donations of any size are greatly appreciated! All donations to Vernon Trails are tax deductible. For more information on how to donate, email us at vernontrails@gmail.com.

Here are the tees of holes 10, 11, & 12.

And some of the new alternate (red) tee locations and signs. The main (blue) tees on these holes also have new signs so you’ll be able to see right away if there’s an alternate on that hole.

Finally, 18 holes! But we’re not done yet. In addition to the final touches like concrete teepads and final signage, we are still working to add more alternate tee and basket locations. Stay tuned for our progress. You can find the up-to-date map of the course HERE. And now you can also find Veteran Hills DGC on DGCourseReview.com.
