Hole 1 - May 2014

Hole 1 - May 2014

As the weather is finally warming up a bit and things are starting to green up, we figured it’d be a great time to update everyone on the progress we are making on theĀ Veteran Hills Disc Golf Course. We have been having regular weekly work days since March and the roughly 60 volunteer hours we’ve put in since that time have allowed us to open up 5 more holes. Adding that to the work done last fall (273 hours and counting) and we have brush cut on and have opened up 11 holes. Work has been done on 2 others, so we are getting closer to having a playable course every week.

To date we have received donation and sponsorship commitments totaling $12,000. This total is half of our fundraising goal and a great start. There are still a number of holes that can be sponsored, so if you’d like to more information on sponsorship levels email us at vernontrails@gmail.com. You can also donate any amount by clicking the donate button and earmarking your contribution to disc golf.

The pictures we’ve included with this post are a great example of what we are doing at the VFW. The property is truly amazing and being able to uncover such beautiful locations is such a treat! You can see more of the holes so far here.

Don’t forget, if you’d like to volunteer some of your time to this project, make sure to click on the Get Involved tab and sign up to receive emails about our disc golf course projects.
